Breast Augmentation
in Thailand.
Breast augmentation in Thailand is a 10-day trip planned by our Bangkok team: surgery, supervised recovery at a hotel near your hospital, then cleared for your flight home. We book the surgeon, the hospital, and the recovery hotel, and we are with you on surgery day. We've personally visited every clinic we recommend.

Breast augmentation in Thailand — half the price of home.
Breast augmentation in Thailand runs $3,300–$5,000 at mid-range Bangkok specialty clinics. That's 50–70% less than the US ($5,000–$12,000), Australia (AUD $10,000–$15,000), and the UK (£4,500–£8,500), for the same FDA-approved breast implants (Mentor, Motiva, Allergan Natrelle) your surgeon at home would use.

Is breast augmentation in Thailand safe?
Absolutely — when you choose an accredited hospital and a board-certified surgeon.
Thailand treats over 1.4 million international patients a year, and the World Health Organization lists it as a top medical tourism hub. That didn't happen by accident — the Thai government and private hospitals spent decades building it, as Harvard Kennedy School explains.

Surgeon credentials that matter
Board Certification
Thai Board of Plastic Surgery certification takes at least 6 years of training after med school — general surgery, then a plastic surgery fellowship. It’s on par with the US (ABPS), UK (FRCS Plast), and Australia (FRACS).
Hospital Privileges
Surgeons working at JCI-accredited hospitals like Bumrungrad, Bangkok Hospital, and Samitivej have already been vetted by an international accrediting body before they ever operate on you.
Implant Brands
Thai clinics use the exact same FDA-approved and CE-marked implants your surgeon at home would use — Mentor, Allergan (Natrelle), and Motiva.
What the research says
The biggest FDA study of nearly 100,000 patients put the 10-year rupture risk at around 8%, and found no link between silicone implants and connective tissue disease, pregnancy problems, or breast cancer.
One 2024 review of 18,322 breast-augmentation patients showed satisfaction scores jumped from 26.3 to 72.7 after surgery, with big gains in body confidence and intimate well-being. Global surgeon data from 2024 shows breast augmentation is the third most common cosmetic surgery in the world.
Risks to be aware of
Breast augmentation carries the same risks in Thailand as anywhere else: infection, bleeding, capsular contracture (scar tissue tightening around the implant), the implant shifting, asymmetry, or a reaction to the anaesthetic.
How to minimise risk:
- Choose a JCI-accredited hospital or a clinic affiliated with one
- Verify your surgeon’s Thai Board of Plastic Surgery certification
- Don’t choose on price alone — the cheapest option is rarely the safest
- Follow all pre- and post-operative instructions
- Stay in Thailand for the full recommended recovery period

Your Trip
What does the trip look like?
Most patients can fly home 10–14 days after breast augmentation in Thailand.
Phase 1
Before you arrive
4–6 weeks out
- Book a virtual consultation with your chosen surgeon.
- Surgeon recommends implant type, size, and placement.
- Complete pre-operative blood tests at home.
- Arrange travel and stay in Bangkok for at least 10 days.
- 1 week before: stop blood-thinning meds and alcohol.
“This is where most of the real planning happens. By the time you land in Bangkok, your surgeon already knows your goals, your measurements, and exactly what to expect.”

Phase 2
Surgery day
At the hospital
- Arrive fasted (no food or water for 6–8 hours).
- Anaesthesiologist reviews your medical history.
- Procedure takes 1–2 hours under general anaesthesia.
- Wake up in a recovery room wearing a compression bra.
- Most patients stay one night for observation (recommended).
“We're at the hospital with you on surgery day. You won't be navigating check-in, paperwork, or post-op instructions alone — we handle the Thai side so you can focus on yourself.”

Phase 3
Recovery in Bangkok
Days 1–14
Days 1–3
Moderate soreness and swelling. Rest in your hotel. Pain medication. Compression garment 24/7.
Days 4–7
Swelling subsides. Short walks and light activities. First follow-up visit (day 5–7).
Days 7–10
Light sightseeing possible. Stitches removed if non-dissolving. Second follow-up.
Days 10–14
Most patients cleared to fly home. Surgeon provides a medical letter for travel insurance.
“Recovery is the part most patients worry about most — and it's the part we put the most thought into. Your hotel, your follow-ups, even your meals — we plan it all so you can just rest.”

Phase 4
Back home
Weeks 4 – Months 6
- Weeks 4–6: Return to full exercise. Wear a sports bra during exercise for 3 months.
- Months 3–6: Final results settle as swelling resolves and implants drop into natural position.
“Our support doesn't end when you fly home. If anything comes up — a question for your surgeon, a concern about healing — we're still on your WhatsApp.”

Options
Procedure types
There are several approaches to breast enhancement available in Thailand, each suited to different goals and body types.
Silicone ImplantsMost common
Silicone implants are the most popular choice for international patients in Thailand. Modern cohesive silicone gel (“gummy bear”) implants hold their shape well and feel natural to the touch. Thai surgeons use the exact same FDA-approved and CE-marked brands as surgeons in the US, UK, and Australia — Mentor, Allergan (Natrelle), and Motiva.
Implant shapes
Round implants create more upper-pole fullness. Anatomical (teardrop) implants mimic the natural breast slope — often preferred for patients starting with less tissue.
Implant placement
Submuscular (under the pectoral muscle) tends to produce more natural results with less rippling, especially in slimmer patients. Subglandular (over the muscle) involves shorter recovery but may show more visible edges in patients with thin skin.
Implant profiles
Low profile has a wider base for subtle projection — natural look on wider chests. Moderate profile balances projection and base width and is the most commonly chosen. High profile delivers maximum projection from a narrow base — often preferred by petite patients.
Incision approaches
Inframammary (under the breast fold) is most common, gives the surgeon direct access, and the scar hides in the natural crease. Periareolar (around the nipple border) blends the scar at the areola edge but carries slightly higher risk of sensation changes. Transaxillary (armpit) leaves no breast scar but requires endoscopic technique and limits implant size options.

Fat Transfer
Fat transfer uses liposuction to take fat from your belly or thighs, cleans it, and injects it into the breasts. Good if you want a modest size bump (usually one cup size) with a completely natural result and no implant.
Retention
Your body reabsorbs roughly half the transferred fat over time — about 54% sticks around long-term. The size change is subtler than implants.
$2,800–$5,600
Save up to 65%“Fat transfer is wonderful for a subtle, natural enhancement. It's essentially a two-for-one procedure since it includes liposuction, but remember the size increase will be modest.”

Breast Lift + Augmentation
For patients whose breasts have changed shape after pregnancy or weight loss. Combines a breast lift (mastopexy) with implants in one surgery — you get volume back and the lift you need without two separate trips. Often bundled with a tummy tuck as a mummy makeover.
Recovery
A little longer than implants alone — plan on 10–14 days in Thailand before you fly home.
$4,200–$7,000
Save up to 55%“A lift combined with an implant is transformative for patients post-pregnancy or after significant weight loss. It beautifully restores both volume and a youthful position.”

Implant Revision / Replacement
For replacing old implants, fixing capsular contracture, or changing implant size. Several Bangkok surgeons focus specifically on complex revision work.
Long-term monitoring
The FDA suggests getting an MRI or ultrasound 5–6 years after silicone implants go in, then every 2–3 years after that, to check for a silent rupture you can’t feel. Your doctor at home can run these.
$3,300–$6,100
Save up to 60%“Revision surgery requires exceptional skill. We only recommend surgeons who specialize specifically in complex reconstructive and revision cases.”

How to choose your surgeon
Before committing to any surgeon, ask these questions (you can do this over video call before travelling):
A high volume indicates specialization. Look for surgeons who perform this procedure regularly, not just occasionally.
They should use FDA-approved or CE-marked brands like Mentor, Allergan, or Motiva, and be able to explain why a specific brand suits your anatomy.
This helps set realistic expectations. Seeing results on body types similar to yours is much more useful than looking at a generic portfolio.
Every surgeon has complications. A good surgeon will be transparent about their rates and have a clear protocol for handling them.
Understand exactly how many follow-up visits are included and how you can reach them if you have concerns after returning home.
Ensure the surgeon you are consulting with is the primary surgeon who will be performing the operation.
Our verification process
Every clinic on this page has been through our process: we visit in person, meet the surgical team, review credentials, inspect operating theatres, and speak with past patients. Transparency and willingness to answer everything — those are good signs.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Breast augmentation (also called a boob job or breast enlargement) in Thailand usually runs $3,300–$7,800 USD depending on the clinic and implant type. Premium international hospitals charge $5,000–$7,800; mid-range specialty clinics charge $3,300–$5,000. For comparison, the average US surgeon fee alone is around $4,875 — and once you add anaesthesia and facility fees, you’re looking at $5,000–$12,000 total.
Minimum 10 days after surgery. This allows for initial recovery, two follow-up appointments, and stitch removal. Most patients fly home after 10–14 days. Some extend their stay — Chiang Mai and the Thai islands are popular recovery destinations once you're feeling well enough.
Most surgeons clear patients to fly 10–14 days after surgery. Cabin pressure is not a risk to silicone or saline implants. You may experience increased swelling during the flight. Wear your compression garment, stay hydrated, and book an aisle seat.
The same FDA-approved and CE-marked brands available in the US, Australia, and UK: Mentor (Johnson & Johnson), Allergan Natrelle, and Motiva. Your surgeon recommends a brand and type based on your anatomy and goals.
Yes — and we strongly recommend it. Most surgeons offer video consultations to discuss your goals, review photos, and recommend implant type and size. It's also your chance to assess the surgeon's communication style.
Your Thai surgeon provides a post-operative care plan and stays available for follow-up via email or messaging for several months. If a complication requires in-person attention, any board-certified plastic surgeon in your country can treat it. Our concierge team can coordinate communication between your Thai surgeon and your local doctor.
As of 2026, citizens of 93 countries receive a 60-day visa exemption — more than sufficient for a surgery trip. All travellers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at least 72 hours before arrival. Check the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the latest requirements for your passport.
